Jordan Zipkins, licensed psychotherapist, has recently relocated his practice Westside Therapy from Los Angeles across the country to South Florida. Westside Therapy currently has two locations for new patients to seek treatment, one in Palm Beach Gardens and the other in Fort Lauderdale.

Jordan is very passionate about his practice and has this to say, “I help adults and adolescents free themselves from profound sadness and stress, improve their ability to treat themselves in kinder and healthier ways and to thrive in relationships through individual therapy”.

The four approaches Jordan takes to therapy are:

Holistic – Encompassing all aspects of your life, including your mind, body and spirit. If needed referrals are given to other complementary healthcare areas such as massage therapists, pain specialists and acupuncturists.

Psychoanalytic – When appropriate we collaborate to understand the origin of the pain from early life experiences, thus helping decrease emotional distress and reducing the likelihood of future difficulties.

Cognitive Behavioral – Understanding the thoughts, emotions and behaviors that lead to distressed states of being is important to getting on the path to recovery.

Strength Based – Building upon strengths has profound positive effects. Many people are naturally conditioned to think in negative and critical ways, focusing on what was done wrong instead of what’s done right. Changing this thought pattern can be extremely helpful and provide many breakthroughs.

Jordan also had this to say, “Life in general is pretty stressful. But for young adults and teens without much life experience in how to deal and cope with stress, it can be much more intense. People who are dealing with trauma from their early lives will often let it greatly affect the present moment. Nothing makes me happier than helping people out of this rut and to see them enjoy life again and be able to deal with life’s inevitability….stress….in a healthy meaningful way.”
