Congress Passed laws that are destroying Our Country

Washington, D.C, District of Columbia Apr 1, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Congress did not deliberately pass legislation that would be detrimental to our nation, but that happened. Congress passed legislation to provide Social Security benefits and Medicare benefits; they passed legislation to ensure our country had a healthy labor force. The Social Security law was passed in 1934 and the Medicare law was passed in 1965. The fundamental error they made was how to pay for these benefits; they impose upon the employers the responsibility for paying for these benefits. This requirement created a cost that is below the break-even price, pushing up the price before the employer could sell its services or goods, forcing the employers to raise their prices. The second problem is that Congress required health care services, which guaranteed a steady revenue stream and eliminated the need for competition. In passing these laws Congress sowed the seeds of our financial destruction.

Following the money shows that revenue taken for the Social Security Pension Fund is redistributed back to all employees. The money taken for Medicare/Medicaid Services is taken from all industries but distributed only to the Medical Industry. This causes an imbalance between the Industries.

The FICA taxes and paying for employee healthcare benefits affect all employers, but none is more significant than the manufacturing industry. This industry is different from others due to the existence of international competition. For the last forty years, we have seen a continual loss of manufacturing in our country, but not so much in other industrial countries. The U.S. manufacturing industry is at its lowest in modern history, now at 11% of GDP. The cause is the growth of the healthcare industry, which is now above 18% of GDP.

A simple comparison of the percentage change in the healthcare industry's GDP versus the manufacturing industry shows a direct correlation between the growth and the shrinkage of the other, percentage point by percentage point. No other sector has seen such a decline.

The cause is simple: the U.S. is the only industrial country where employers directly pay a substantial share of employees' health care and Social Security benefits. By their nature, somebody must pay for these marginal costs; they are in the price for selling a good or service. In other industrial-competitive nations, employers do not have these costs. Instead, the citizens and businesses foot the bill through income taxes. These income taxes are from profits; therefore, they are not marginal costs that higher prices must cover.

We pride ourselves on having a capitalistic system that supports free enterprise. We feel it is better than any other system, but it is not working. The facts show we are no longer the number one manufacturing country globally. The facts show we are creating massive national debt. The facts show our manufacturing companies are moving to other countries and taking jobs with them. The facts show each year are trade deficit is growing as we try to maintain our quality of life. The facts show something is wrong.

The simple answer is that Congress made a colossal error; the error-imposed costs before selling goods and services; instead of paying for them out of profits. As a result, Congress interfered with how business works in this country, and their legislation is destroying our capitalistic system. If we do not correct the problem, our nation will continue its decline.

Our international competitors do not require employers to pay for social or healthcare benefits before pricing their goods or services. Therefore, they have a competitive advantage over the United States. The other countries make the individual citizens and businesses pay for the social benefits through a general fund funded by income taxes. If our manufacturing industry is to survive, we must cut their manufacturing costs; we must copy our international competitors if we want to survive.

First, this country must eliminate the FICA taxes every employer and employee pay. The United States must remove any requirement that the employer pays for the employees' healthcare benefits. In its place, we must move to a healthcare system that covers all citizens. This system must also allow the private healthcare industry to flourish and incorporate a Medicare-For-All system. Finally, we must protect the Social Security System with a tax that goes into the general fund, paid by personal and corporate income taxes.

I propose the following:

Overall, I want:

1. A Medicare for all healthcare system set up, along with allowing a private healthcare system to flush,
2. Replace the 7.5% FICA tax with a 4% flat tax added across all seven tax brackets and the Corporate Tax rate.
3. I want the corporations to stop paying their employees' healthcare benefits and pay them their health care costs through a salary increase.
4. I want the providers and insurance companies to be correctly taxed. At present, there is an error in the recognition of kickbacks.
5. I want a stable financial environment that supports manufacturing and will help our industries to thrive and grow. Our laws should not impose additional costs on employers. These changes will stop the loss of manufacturing companies and create twenty million manufacturing jobs.
6. I want the state's Medicaid expenditures used to pay for colleges expenses.
7. I want a healthier and more robust Nation with a better Healthcare Industry.

The first objection people might have was this moving us closer to Socialism. Socialism is controlling the means of production of a country. My recommended changes are doing just the opposite, and it is creating a better economic environment so that manufacturing can flourish and grow in this country. The plan is to remove financial constraints placed on business by Congress. The second primary objection is that it would not give greater control of people to the government? The new system will require all personal records to remain confidential, and the doctors and nurses to remain independent. With Medicare-for-All, guarantying medical coverage will create greater freedom for employees to move from job to job. The third question is whether such a system will be more costly than the present system. From a national point of view, the healthcare costs in this country will be half through government purchasing and determining fair prices for services, with the savings moving back into the Manufacturing Industry, creating more jobs and companies.

To achieve my ambition, I need money. I must hire professional public relations firms to keep people informed and pressure individual candidates. I am not going after any political party but will insist that any candidate for office support these goals. I will track every candidate running for a Congressional seat and support the candidates that want to move to a Medicare-for-all healthcare system, paid through income tax money and eliminate FICA taxes.
